Barry McWeeney

Joining SIRO in 2016, Barry was appointed Head of New Developments in 2024 and leads a large team within SIRO. SIRO is a full fibre broadband operator, building and operating a 100% fibre optic broadband network, built on the ESB’s electricity network. SIRO’s network now reaches almost 650,000 premises across every Irish county and continues to grow.
Barry and his team are responsible for bringing SIRO connectivity to all new housing developments. This involves end-to-end seamless delivery and project management from planning and design, transmission, site activation and installation to ensure new homes are fibre ready. SIRO works closely with several hundred developers across Ireland to ensure homeowners have fast, reliable fibre broadband from the day they move in.
Barry’s began his career designing a group water schemes in the West of Ireland. Transitioning into the telecommunications industry in 2009, he served as a Project Manager with KTL, overseeing new builds and network upgrade projects for telecom providers. In 2012, he joined Vodafone working on the rollout of 4G.
