Ciaran Mullooly

MEP, Vice Chair, Special Committee, Housing Crisis, the European Union

Ciaran is a former community development worker and journalist serving as a Member of the European Parliament since June 2024 for the people of the Midlands-North-West constituency. Ciaran is from Ballyleague-Lanesborough on the Roscommon-Longford border. Before entering politics, Ciaran had a long career in both media and community development. Having trained as a reporter at the Longford Leader, The Cavan Leader and Shannonside Radio, Ciaran joined RTÉ as both a midlands correspondent and presenter on ‘Ear to the Ground’. With his vision for improving the lives of those in his community, Ciaran is a founder of the award-winning Lough Ree Access for All social enterprise project, allowing access to the waterways on an accessible boat for people with mobility issues.

In the European Parliament, Ciaran is a member of the Renew Europe Group and is Vice-Chair of the Special Committee on Housing, where his focus is on formulating recommendations to the European Commission on the challenges faced by Ireland and Europe on housing issues. Ciaran was also heavily involved in the drafting of the European Parliament report on the challenges in the EU housing sector. Ciaran brings a practical, people-first perspective to his work in the European Parliament and is committed to ensuring that EU policies deliver tangible benefits for citizens.
